    Born in Bilbao, he achieved his percussion studies in the Superior Conservatory of Music “Juan Crisóstomo e Arriaga” of Bilbao (“Spain”), under the percussion teacher J.Manuel Gallardo Mayo, getting Prize of Honor in the forth and fifth course to finish the superior degree. Later he was student, for five years, of the Rotterdam Conservatory with Robert Van Sice and Miguel Bernat as teachers, and he graduated with the “Uitvoerend Musicus” (concertist) title.

He attended many percussion master classes and clinics in Bilbao, Zaragoza, Portugal, San Sebastian, Rotterdam, Valencia, Mallorca, … with such famous teachers as: G.C.Johns, E.Sejourne, H.Bok, C.Langle, B.Chamberling, M.Bernat, S.Gualda, Robert Van Sice, D.Searcy, S.Schik. In 1992 he got the place of percussionist in the Bilbao Council Txistu Band. In the summer of 1993 he became member of the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra. In July of that year he was awarded a grant by The County Council of Bizkaia (“Spain”) to continue his percussion studies in Rotterdam Conservatory of Holland. In 2002 he was again awarded a grant by The County Council of Bizkaia (“Spain”) to continue his percussion studies in Yale Unibertsity (USA). In April of 1995 he was awarded with the second prize in the “Permanent Competition for Young Performers” organized by “Spain Musical Youth” organization.

Of his intense cameristic activity we can emphasize that: he was member of the Contemporary Ensemble of Bilbao “Kuraia” recording a video with music of Luis de Pablo and Juan José Mena conducting; in 1999 he played with “Jesús Guridi” Ensemble of Vitoria, J.José Mena conducting, in the Homage to Carmelo Bernaola, including the premiere of 5 pieces in the “Musical Fortnight of San Sebastian”; since 1999 he is member of “Inner Dúo” (sax and percussion duo); he is member of “2 zero 2” (flute, piano and percussion trio); he is member of “Per-Qu4ttro” (percussion quartet). Since 1993 he is member of Bilbao Symphony Orchestra, nowadays as Principal Percussionist. With this Orchestra, he played as soloist in 1996with J.M.Gallardo, the pianists Uriarte-Mongrovius and the conductor Kenneth Jean, the “Concert for Two Pianos, Percussion and Orchestra” of Bela Bartok. On may 17 and 18 he played the European premier of the piece “Grace” for two marimbas and orchestra of Martin Bresnik, with Robert Van Sice and the conductor Shinik Hahm. On May 31 and June 1 he played the world premiere of the piece “Enbat” of MªEugenia Luc for marimba, two txalaparta, txistu, tape and orchestra, under the conductor J.José Mena. Since 1999 to 2002 he has been percussion teacher of the Superior Conservatory of Music “Juan Crisóstomo de Arriaga” of Bilbao. From 2002 to 2004 he realized Master of Percussion at Yale Unibersity of new Haven, CT (USA) with Robert van Sice irakaslea.

Nowadays besides performing he teaches at “Jesús Guridi” Conservatory of Music of Vitoria-Gasteiz.
