Florian Peelman, professor of the Hochschule für Musik „Hanns Eisler“ Berlin, Florian is a Australian Belgian musician with depth and breadth. Receiving his Bachelors at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp under Leo DeNeve, he completed his Masters at the “Hanns Eisler” achieving the highest distinction in the class of Walter Küssner, later becoming his assistant before receiving a unanimous vote from the jury, lead by Tabea Zimmermann, to start his own viola class in 2019.

His teaching follows a very holistic approach with an emphasis on universal qualities that can be applied to every physical, stylistic and emotional need, ensuring a consistency in quality practice and performance mindset.
This approach allows Florian to not only teach the Viola but any instrument with students from a variety of instruments seeking his unique guidance.

As a dedicated Chamber musician, he is a alumni of the Chapelle Musical “Reine Elizabeth” and the European Chamber Music Academy receiving close mentorship from Hatto Beyrle, Rainer Schmidt, Ebenhart Felz, attended Prussia Coves “Open Chamber Music” and has enjoyed being a member of the Arsis4 Quartet, the Boccherini String Trio performing at Festivals across Europe Canada and Australia in
halls such as the Wigmore Hall London, Concertgebouw Bruges, Flagey in Brussels, Sydney Opera House with artists as Alexander Melnikov, Kristian Bezuidenhout, and Alistair Beatson.

As a orchestral Musician he has extensive experience playing with the finest orchestras and conductors around the world from touring with the Berlin Philharmonic and London Symphony Orchestra to Playing as principal viola with the Staatskapelle Dresden, Munich Opera, Munich Radio, Scottish Chamber, Australian Chamber, Swedish Radio orchestras to name just a few.
As a soloist he has performed the Kancheli concerto, the Mozart Concertante and Bruch double concertos and most recently, Pierre Charvet’s ‘And death’.

Florian has also enjoyed working  as a Conductor, gamelan player, actor and photographer. In his free time he can be found either in a woodworking workshop or hiking the high mountains trails.
